Harvest Summercamp – reconnect with the earth and each other

📅 9–13 July 2025 | 📍 MijnStadstuin, Amsterdam | 🎟️ €45 (includes all meals + camping)

Ready to reconnect with the earth – and with each other?
Join us at Grounded‘s Harvest Summercamp, a weekend experience that brings together nature lovers, changemakers, creatives, and curious minds for three days of meaningful work, inspiring learning, and joyful play.
We’ll stay at MijnStadstuin, a beautiful urban agriculture oasis in Amsterdam – home to food forests, edible gardens, a sauna caravan, and a thriving network of grassroots initiatives. It’s the perfect place to camp, explore, and co-create.
What We’ll Do
- Support the harvest at a healthcare-driven veggie farm – get grounded in purposeful physical work (for one afternoon!)
- Do and learn while working at the Community Farm MijnStadstuin. You’ll work with the founder and experience expert Robin van Asperen throughout the area – small acts, big impact
- Join workshops, talks, and hands-on sessions covering urban ecology, permaculture, food systems, creative expression, and justice

MijnStadstuin is one of the first urban agriculture projects in Amsterdam. Over the past decades, they have developed four hectares into experimental gardens and spaces for food entrepreneurship. With multiple CSAs, a food forest, a sauna caravan, and more, MijnStadstuin continues to grow and develop as a beautiful location and a vital hub for the city’s food transition.
During the summercamp, we’ll be working at MijnStadstuin—harvesting in the food forest, supporting infrastructural projects, and more. One afternoon, we’ll all head next door to Zorgkwekerij Groen, a unique farm that combines vegetable production with health care. The farm is run by Jessica and her sister, who took over from their father seven years ago when traditional vegetable production was no longer profitable. They’ve since transformed part of the greenhouse into a care farm, where many participants now benefit from both health support and hands-on food production. Jessica and her sister are working hard to bring the entire greenhouse back to food production, collaborating with the local market to make it happen.
We’re organising this summercamp as part of a growing collaboration to make Amsterdam Nieuw-West food autonomous. We’ll be working with the amazing multicultural entrepreneurs at the Market on Plein 40’–45’, as well as local restaurants, to gather food demand and connect it directly to production on the land. This year, we’re starting by growing herbs for the market at Zorgkwekerij Groen.
There will also be an optional workshop, organised by EU4Advice’s Living Lab in Amsterdam and Netwerk Platteland (register), where food system experts and local entrepreneurs will collaborate to design the local food economy in Nieuw-West.
Another exciting development in the area: the citizen movement Voedselpark Amsterdam has won the tender to develop a food park in the Lutkemeerpolder. This project will feed the neighbourhood and create a beautiful space for education and recreation. In 2023 Grounded organised a summercamp at MijnStadstuin, leading to a joint protest with Voedselpark Amsterdam and many others to protect the last arable hectares of Amsterdam from being developed into distribution centers. It’s inspiring to see that 9 hectares will now be transformed into a food park for the city.
