Local2Local’s Office Fruit: picked by students, eaten by you!
This morning (Mon, Oct 10th) it was the turn of fruit grower Jacco Merkens from Werkhoven to deliver his freshly harvested organic apples and pears to Utrecht University’s Faculty of Geosciences, directly from his orchard to Utrecht Science Park. Local2Local’s Office Fruit (Bedrijfsfruit) deliveries are alternated between Jacco and organic fruit grower William Pouw.
The Faculty of Geosciences has been one of Local2Local’s Bedrijfsfruit-customers from the very start. Utrecht University believes it is important for its employees to have easy access to healthy products from the region.
Maarten Klop helped distribute the crates to the departments in good spirits and he scored several thumbs up again.
With this subscription to a weekly supply of appels and pears, the producer gets a fair price, the customer stimulates the regional economy, preserves crafts and enables connected projects with impact; social, economic and ecological.
One of those projects: William’s organic pears were harvested this summer by UU- and other students, our Harvest Heroes! Now that’s regional impact!
