First CLEVERFOOD Peer-learning visit in Amsterdam

The first CLEVERFOOD peer-learning visit took place in Amsterdam from 14-16th of April. What are some of the key takeaways?

Facilitated by Eurocities, and hosted by Amped (as Guiding Entity of the peer-learning programme) and the EU4Advice Living Lab, participants from Marseille and Wallonia embarked on a two-day visit that was full of exchange and learning opportunities. Through field visits to the Nieuw-West food market and Voedselpark Amsterdam, participants got insights into how Amsterdam is transitioning to a fair and local food system.

Discussions with Cellule Manger Demain and Cité de L’agriculture focused on:
⛓️‍💥 Shortening short food supply chains in a fair way by creating connections and networks which will last
💶 Innovative finance schemes for food policy councils and labs
🥦 Better engaging lower income communities across the city-region in both food democracy and in accessing healthy and sustainable food.

Romane Cloquet: “I took away from this peer-learning visit a great deal of inspiration on very practical and diverse ways to weave connection between stakeholders of the food system. Ranging from European partnerships building to very local ways to bridge the food culture gap between communities… I look forward to enrich the work we do with the Cellule Manger Demain with all these new ideas !”

Stay tuned for the next visits on sustainable urban food systems and learn more about the peer-learning programme.
